Making bubble tea
(boba tea) is simple!
Here are some recipes and general guidelines to assist
you in the process. Please feel free to adjust this to your preference.
Creativity is encouraged as the possibilities are endless!
Cooking Tapioca Pearls (Regular Boba
/ Grade A Boba / Green Tea Boba)
1. Bring the water in a pot to boiling. (7:1 ratio for
water to tapioca pearls)
2. Put the boba into the pot and cook for 25-30 min. (Notice that
the boba will rise to the surface of the water.)
3. Stir initially to prevent the boba from sticking to the pot.
4. After 25-30 minutes, turn off stove and let tapioca sit on the
side for another 20-25 minutes.
5. Use a strainer to drain the water and rinse boba with cold water.
6. Ready to serve.
Cooking Mini Tapioca Pearls (Mini
Boba)
1. Bring the water in a pot to boiling. (7:1 ratio for
water to tapioca pearls)
2. Put the boba into the pot and cook for 15-20 min. (Notice that
the boba will rise to the surface of the water.)
3. Stir initially to prevent the boba from sticking to the pot.
4. After 15-20 minutes, turn off stove and let tapioca sit on the
side for another 15-20 minutes.
5. Use a strainer to drain the water and rinse boba with cold water.
6. Ready to serve.
Ice-Blended Drink (Slush, Snow Bubble,
Smoothie)
1. Add 3 fluid oz of juice syrup or flavored powder.
2. Add 2 fluid oz of non-dairy creamer.
3. Add 1 fluid oz of fructose or sugar.
4. Using blender, mix and blend with 1 full cup of ice and 1/2 cup
of water.
5. Ready to serve.
Flavored Powder Milk Tea
1. Add 3 fluid oz of flavored powder into cocktail shaker. (Add
more powder for stronger taste.)
2. Add 1 fluid oz of non-dairy creamer into cocktail shaker.
3. Add 1 fluid oz of either fructose or sugar into cocktail shaker.
4. Add some hot or warm water and stir to dissolve the powder.
5. Add 1 cup of ice into cocktail shaker.
6. Add 1/2 cup of water into cocktail shaker. (Or, you can add 1/2
cup of brewed tea.)
7. Shake the contents in cocktail shaker.
8. Ready to serve.
Flavored Tea Infusion
1. Brew a cup of tea with your desired tea flavor (ie. jasmine,
black / red tea, etc.)
2. Add 1-2 fluid oz of desired juice syrup or flavored powder.
3. Add 1 fluid oz of fructose or sugar. (Optional)
4. Ready to serve.
General guidelines:
- If you prefer sweeter boba, soak the boba in
fructose, sugar, honey, or a similar sweetener before serving.
- If you prefer softer boba, cook the boba a
little longer. Or, after cooking and the stove is turned off,
you can put
the lid over the pot and let the boba simmer on the side for 10-15
minutes longer than the directions above indicated.
- If you prefer chewier boba, cook the boba for
a shorter time.
- For a stronger tea taste, brew your tea with
less water or more tea leaves.
- For a richer flavor, add more juice syrup or
flavored powder.
- For sweeter beverages, add more fructose or
sugar.
